Trump Unleashes on NYC Mayoral Nominee: ‘100% Communist Lunatic’

President Trump is turning up the heat on New York City politics after Tuesday night’s shocking primary result vaulted a self-proclaimed socialist into the spotlight. Zohran Mamdani, a state assemblyman backed by the far-left AOC wing of the Democrat Party, pulled off a stunning upset in the Democratic primary for mayor—and Trump isn’t holding back.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump torched Mamdani as a “100% Communist Lunatic” and warned that the Democrat Party has officially “crossed the line.” In his words: “We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.”

The former president didn’t stop there. “He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart,” Trump wrote. “He’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him.”

For many Americans, Mamdani’s policy platform is straight out of a Marxist playbook. He’s pledged to eliminate public transit fares, raise the minimum wage to $30 per hour, hike taxes on anyone making over $1 million, and hand out free municipal housing and childcare. On top of that, he’s called for rent freezes and floated the idea of government-controlled grocery stores.

And if that wasn’t enough, Mamdani is openly anti-Trump, anti-ICE, and has endorsed slogans like “Globalize the intifada”—a phrase many see as dangerously inflammatory and hostile to America’s allies.

Even liberal circles in New York are reportedly stunned by how far left their party has swung. As RedState’s Bob Hoge puts it, Mamdani’s victory proves that “the Marxists have not been defeated and are just waiting for their comeback.”

Current Mayor Eric Adams, now running as an independent, slammed Mamdani on Fox News, calling him a “snake oil salesman” who’s “saying and doing anything to get elected.” Adams also reminded voters that Mamdani’s signature tax hike plan isn’t even within the powers of a city mayor—it’s a state-level issue.

Despite the bombast, Trump’s warning carries serious weight. New York City is already teetering from rising crime, economic instability, and a mass exodus of residents fleeing for freer, safer ground. Putting an avowed socialist in charge of the country’s largest city could pour gasoline on the fire.

And Mamdani isn’t just another left-wing hopeful—he represents the most radical edge of the Democrat Party’s future. His win over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other establishment figures signals that the progressive wing is taking over—and fast.

For conservatives, Mamdani’s surge is both a local disaster and a national red flag. If New York can elevate a candidate this extreme, there’s no telling where the far-left wave will crash next.

As Trump put it, “This is a big moment in the History of our Country.” He’s right to draw attention to it—because if voters don’t step up, New York could soon become the first major city run by a full-blown socialist ideologue.

The November general election may be the last line of defense. The question now is: will voters come to their senses before Mamdani turns New York into his socialist sandbox?
