UN Prioritizes Hamas Over Israel’s Right to Defend Itself

The United Nations has once again called for a ceasefire in Gaza as Israel defends itself against an unrelenting barrage of rocket attacks from Hamas terrorists. While the UN claims to be advocating for peace, it seems more concerned with limiting Israel’s ability to defend its citizens than addressing the root cause of the violence: Hamas. This terrorist organization has embedded itself among Gaza’s civilian population, using them as human shields while launching indiscriminate rocket fire into Israeli cities.

For years, the international community has selectively intervened in this conflict, often pushing for restraint from Israel while turning a blind eye to the barbaric tactics of Hamas. Each time Israel responds to these attacks, the UN is quick to call for a ceasefire, as if both sides are equally at fault. But here’s the reality: one side is defending its sovereignty and its people, while the other is committed to the destruction of the Jewish state. Hamas’s goal is not peace, and it has made no secret of its desire to eliminate Israel. Yet the UN, in its infinite wisdom, calls for restraint from Israel and advocates for a ceasefire that only benefits the terrorists.

This isn’t just a matter of diplomacy gone wrong—this is the UN actively working against the security interests of a sovereign nation. By calling for a ceasefire, the UN effectively grants Hamas time to regroup, rearm, and prepare for the next wave of attacks. How is Israel expected to protect its citizens under these circumstances? Should it simply accept the threat to its existence, or is it justified in defending its borders, its people, and its way of life?

Moreover, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, while tragic, is largely the result of Hamas’s governance. For years, Hamas has diverted resources away from its own people, choosing instead to invest in its military infrastructure, building tunnels, and stockpiling weapons. Meanwhile, ordinary Gazans suffer from poverty, malnutrition, and disease—conditions that are only exacerbated by Hamas’s prioritization of its war effort over the well-being of its citizens.

The UN’s failure to hold Hamas accountable for its role in creating this crisis is staggering. Instead, the international body focuses its attention on Israel’s defensive measures, as if the root cause of the conflict is Israel’s response, rather than Hamas’s aggression. What’s truly needed is a comprehensive strategy to dismantle Hamas’s power, allowing for genuine peace and stability in the region. But as long as the UN continues to treat Israel and Hamas as moral equivalents, such a solution remains elusive.

The United Nations must stop acting as Hamas’s enabler by consistently calling for ceasefires that only delay the inevitable showdown between good and evil. Israel has the right to defend itself from those who seek its destruction, and it’s time the world recognized that defending your homeland is not an act of aggression—it’s a basic right.
